Beatriz Torres has been a Physiotherapist practitioner for the past 30 years in acute settings, at a pain center, and in her own private practice.
Her significant post-operative scoliosis caused her pain and disability for many years. After treatments by several health care professionals resulted in poor outcomes, she finally discovered the Schroth method. She contacted Christa Lehnert-Schroth, PT, in Germany, the former clinical director of the Katharina-Schroth Klinik. Frau Lehnert-Schroth recommended Dr. Manuel Rigo at the Instituto Elena Salvá in Barcelona, Spain. Since Beatriz is bilingual in Spanish and English, she began treatment with Dr. Rigo as a scoliosis patient and simultaneously as a Physiotherapist to study the Three Dimensional Katharina-Schroth Method.
Beatriz later continued her education in the Schroth method for two more months with Christa Lehnert -Schroth and Dr. Weiss.
At the 4Th International Conference on Conservative Management of Spinal Deformities presented by SOSORT- Society of Scoliosis Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Treatment in May 2007, Beatriz presented a poster summarizing the benefits of learning the Schroth method in an adult case.
Her scoliosis has been a great tool for Beatriz's practice in the United States. Seeing and feeling personally the improvement in her quality of life by eliminating the pain sensations, she decided to focus her career to serve patients with scoliosis, Scheuermannn's kyphosis and other related deformities of the spine.
She has learned how to make the proper subtle corrections any time, anywhere, becoming pain free and able to take control of suffering and disability.
Through her own learning and experience, she is fully committed to teach and help children, adolescents and adults with scoliosis to improve the quality of their lives.
